45° Door Catch is a red dot award 2012 winning concept. Traditional door catch is still used widely in many developing country. "When they are not properly closed, traditional folding door latches can prove hazardous. Jutting out into the air, they can cause scrapes and bruises. The metal can also be easily bent and deformed, making the latch unusable. As its name suggests, the 45° Door Catch folds over an angle of 45 degrees from a horizontal to vertical orientation. The moving latch hangs down vertically (due to gravity) when it is not being used, which prevents it from getting caught or bent. Safety is ensured and the lifespan of the latch is extended."
