Iconic Disc is a new project of designer Tony Kern and Jeremiah Johnson seeks funding at kickstarter. Iconic Disc is a thin, magnetic frame that fits seamlessly over the glowing back-light of your Apple. The frame is designed to hold an image printed on photo paper or a transparent film, just like a photo in a picture frame. When set in place, the image is then illuminated by the captivating glow of the Apple logo. It lets you add your own style to your MacBook without disrupting it's clean design.
The main ring is machined out of aircraft grade aluminum, glass bead blasted, and anodized, just like your Macbook. Neodymium rare earth magnets are press fit into the underside of the ring. These magnets are attracted to the landing pads which are stamped from sheet steel, tumbled to a high shine and plated with a protective nickel coating. A strong, non-permanent 3M adhesive is used to secure them to your laptop. Scratch resistant acrylic lens are used. This lens has a machined edge with a beautiful, smooth radius that snap fits perfectly into the main ring. The final part that makes up a complete disc is the image layer. It is suspended between the lens and ring and can be printed on photo paper or transparent film.
