Sydney architect Christopher Polly has done the transformative renovation to a house in Australia. The home comprises public spaces on its bottom level that open out to an enclosed patio in the rear, while bedrooms and other private spaces are located above. Slatted shutters open and close to allow light in or keep prying eyes out as the day progresses. Indoors, clean white walls and ceilings allow the inhabitants to provide their own color with furnishings and art, while the breezy, subtropical climate of Sydney is given visual emphasis through floor-to-ceiling windows. In total, it’s a striking design for a single family in Sydney, a nice step forward in design down under.
