The amazing 1960 Mercedes 300 SL Roadster will be auctioned off at the RM Auctions in November. The Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster was first produced in 1957 and available for a $11,000. It produced 250 horsepower and maximum speed of 155 mph, although the reported peak was closer to 130. Imagine! my dad's Roadster took only a 7 second 0-60 takeoff at that time. Aside the performance, it’s the sheer visual beauty of this Mercedes that makes it so alluring today. That big, bold Mercedes logo in the grille, the art-deco style intakes on the side panels and the understated curvy posterior make for an irresistible appeal. The two-top design provides open-air cruising and an enclosed cabin for intimate driving.
