Spanish designer Maximo Riera has already impressed us by designing few animal inspired Chairs such as Octopus, Rhino, Walrus & Elephant. Recently he has completed the final piece to his animal chair collection called 'The Whale Chair'. The following piece takes us to the depths of the oceans, where this beautiful marine mammal reigns supreme. This tribute to the Blue Whale, the world’s largest animal, has deep meaning and relevance for the artist, due to his bond with the sea. This iconic image is highly recognizable as a symbol of amity between the Animal Kingdom and human beings. It also makes a firm statement on survival and overcoming adversities.

The Whale Chair was designed to be a centerpiece. Its size and dimension makes it ideal for open spaces and wide areas. The whale fin, which is completely unfolded, has an asymmetry between both sides, while the top section leans backwards conceding a dynamic perspective to the rhythm of the composition. As an endangered species this type of cetacean recalls the significance of responsible and sustainable fishing to halt the continual decline on the earth’s marine life population.
