We cannot deny the fact that Apple has been totally dominating the tablet market with its very popular iPad device since its release date. And lately, some manufacturers have been exerting great effort to come up with a tablet that could match up its performance as well as the functionality it offers.

And now, HTC is finally making an attempt by coming up with the Google Chrome Tablet. HTC has also manufactured Google’s Android smartphone, Nexus One, so it is not quite surprising if HTC will also be the one to bring Google’s firsttablet that will run a Chrome OS.
HTC is planning to bring the said Google Chrome Tablet through Verizon Network. Google and Verizon has been a popular team lately for their support to Net Neutrality. They have been undergoing a lot of discussions and have been cooperating in some ways in the past, so this team-up is actually not that surprising at all.
As of present, the pricing for this device has not yet been announced yet. However, the Google Chrome tablet is expected to be substantially cheaper than Apple’s iPad or it may come totally free with a Verizon data contract.
Likewise, the official specs for this upcoming tablet device has not been released yet. But it was rumored that the specs for the Google Chrome Tablet basically includes the following:
  • NVidia’s Tegra 2 platform
  • Google Chrome OS
  • Multi-touch display with 1280 x 720 pixel screen resolution
  • 2 GB of RAM
  • A minimum of 32GB SSD
  • Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and LTE connectivity
  • GPS
  • Built-in webcam
  • Expandable storage via a multi-card reader
Basically, these rumored specs look decent enough for a tablet device like the Google Chrome Tablet. Since it comes from the manufacturer HTC, we can also expect that this tablet will come into a design that is very pleasing to the eyes as well.
The Google Chrome Tablet is pegged for release on November 26 which apparently is a Black Friday and the busiest shopping day in the US. So it could be a good idea to release the gadget on that date.
So far, based on the information available regarding HTC’s Google Chrome Tablet, this device sounds really interesting. But the question is; will it be able to match up the iPad’s popularity? There are only two possibilities but whatever it is, somehow the upcoming release of this tablet device will take some shares in the tablet market.
