TER is designed by Christian Ferrara as a result of a research about the Japanese wood assembly. Wood assemblies consist of two parts connected without any glue, nails or screws. They have existed for thousands of years in Asia and are still widely used in the field of construction. This project is at the intersection of the traditional handicraft and the modern technology. It draws on the techniques and know-how as well as the ancestral controlled machinery. TER is a set consisting of a table and a stool. The structure contains of nine pieces, which are all held together by the weight and pressure of the plate. This weight pressure gives the table rigidity and strength. Even though the plate is heavy, it has a light appearance thanks to the bevel on its corners. Like in traditional assemblies, the connections are set to be hidden.
