Aiken is a recumbent tricycle designed for long distance trips by PIA ferreyra. The word “Aiken” means “to live” in Tehuelche, a native civilization from Patagonia, and it points to the experience of riding, living the roads and falling in love with Argentine landscapes. It is designed in a “tadpole” configuration: two wheels on the front for steering and one back wheel for traction. The recumbent position generates great stability and comfort during the long peddling hours since it spreads the weight of the passenger and cargo on a bigger surface than a bicycle. The tubular steel structure is built using local and affordable technologies, the seat produced in water resistant fabric provides both elasticity and support through its' materials. The specially designed saddlebags, with three independent compartments, allow up to 44lb of load.
