Let’s face it, not many people use those outdated browsers nowadays, and people from Google have noticed that. In addition, most of those old browsers have many compatibility issues so Google has decided to put an end to this. On official Google Reader blog is announced that Google Reader will drop its support for older browsers such as Internet Explorer 6, Firefox 1.0 and 2.0, Safari 2.0 and 3.0 and even older versions of Chrome won’t be supported such as Chrome 1, 2 and 3. Why has Google decided to drop the old browsers? Well, most of them have a number of compatibility issues and they simply don’t follow today’s standards and technologies. People behind Google Reader simply don’t have enough time to work on old compatibility issues of old browsers, and instead, they have decided to work on improvement of Google Reader.

If you’re one of those people that are using old browsers I suggest that you update soon, if you want to continue using Google Reader and to ensure your websurfing is as secure as possible.
